  • Low athlete to coach ratio
  • Create an environment for females to grow physically and mentally
  • Work with state high school programs
  • Aid the players in competing in their high school programs
  • Create an atmosphere of teamwork that leads to a rewarding experience

Q: What is the cost for participation?
A: The direct cost for participation in our program fluctuates for each age group and the different packages offered. Costs are between $350 to $850. This fee covers each player's team membership, insurance and lease gymnasium space, cover tournament costs, pay coaches stipends, cover operational expenses and purchase necessary equipment and supplies, etc. Players receive a t-shirt and uniform that they keep at the end of the season. All costs associated with travel -- housing, food, gas, etc, -- are NOT covered by the fee listed above. The costs for each age group are can be found in our CLUB REGISTRATION page.

Q: When is the registration fee due?
A: Registration, including program fees, is due by March 31, 2012. However, we do offer payment plans and arrangements may be made with Coach Jerry Schwenn who will handle the registration. There are NO refunds given for any reason.

Q: Will the program accept donations or sponsors?
A: Yes, we are always looking for donations or sponsorships to help defray the cost associated with the Wisconsin Elite. Donations may be done anonymously if so desired.

Q: What tournaments are the teams scheduled for in 2012?
A: The schedule the spring/summer of 2012 is currently being finalized. As soon as each team’s schedule is finalized it will be posted on our website.

Q: What about playing time -- is there a guarantee?
A: All teams will be built to compete. The Wisconsin Elite Girls Basketball program does not guarantee equal playing time but tries to follow a 70/30 playing time guide. Playing time is at the sole discretion of the coach and is based on attendance at practice, performance in the game, attitude, effort, match-ups and game situations. Our focus is to balance playing time with winning, while putting the players on the floor that give us the best opportunity to win at all times.

Q: When and where are practices?
A: Practice will typically be on Wednesdays and/or Sundays. Most practices will be 2-3 hours in length. During the school year, we try to only practice on Sundays for High School age teams in order to avoid conflicts with Spring sports. Practices will be held at local high schools and other facilities. Usually, this will be in a central location for all members of the team, but it does depend on availability. If you can help us in securing gym space in your community please let your coach know.

Q: How many players do you suit up per team?
A: Each team will carry a minimum of eight players. NO team will have more than twelve players though. We want to emphasize a low player to coach ratio and give as much instruction as possible.

Q: How is the team formed?
A: Our Coaches will make every attempt to watch you play on your current team and evaluate your skill level. In addition, we will have a tryout for each team to fill the remaining available spots. Each team will breakdown by position, similar to the following…2 point guards, 3-4 guards, 2 centers, 2-3 power forwards. We want to emphasize a low player to coach ratio and give as much instruction as possible, therefore the maximum number of players on a team will be eleven. Outstanding play, leadership, commitment, athletic ability, sportsmanship, and motivation are also considered.

Q: Will there be tryouts?
A: Yes, we will hold tryouts for all age groups. For Non-High School Athletes (U10, U11, U12, U13 & U14) we will hold tryouts in January. For High School Athletes (U14, U15, U16, & U17) we will hold tryouts in March Sunday after the WIAA State Championship Games each year. Please click on our Tryout Details Page on the toolbar to the left for more details about our tryouts.

Q: Who coaches our teams?
A: All of our coaches are experienced high school coaches, former college players, or former college coaches. Each team will be designated one head coach, although many times you will see our staff working together in practices and games.

Q: How can I get involved to help out the Wisconsin Elite?
A: Many tournaments require a volunteer for the scorer's table (scorebook or timer). Our coaches really appreciate your willingness to help out and make this hassle-free.
